While the use of technology in ritual ablutions in Islam is not a new concept as the early 13th century Turkish engineer, al-Shaykh Ra’is al-A’mal Badi’ al-Zaman Abu al-‘Izz ibn Isma’il ibn al-Razzaz al-Jazari, has demonstrated, the Auto Wudu Washer© (AWW) (Patent Pending), in this tradition, is the first automatic pre-prayer personal washing system introduced to enable an individual to perform the Wudu ablution either in a sitting, or if need be, standing position efficaciously in conformance to teachings of the Holy Qur’an.

AACE has developed two versions of the AWW© to accommodate the needs of individuals and groups in public and private household contexts. The AWW© model 06-1 is specifically designed for use in mosques, hotels, offices and communal pray rooms and the AWW© model 06-2 is targeted for individual and family use. Both versions are also available in configurations (06-1s and 06-2s) which take into consideration issues of access for those with disabilities.

The AWW© system facilitates the washing of the hands, nose, mouth, face, arms and foot as prescribed in the Holy Qur’an by firstly washing the hands from the wrists to the fingers and then by allowing the individual user to collect water in the palms for rinsing of the nose and mouth. This is followed by the washing of the face and subsequently performing of the Masa'h. The illustrated steps for performing a valid Wudu ablution according to the Holy Qur’an are displayed on the AWW©. These steps are communicated in Arabic and in the national language of the country in which the AWW© is used in order to ensure that users completely conform to the requirements for performing a valid Wudu ablution according to the Holy Qur’an.

A purpose built washer in the AWW© facilitates the washing and rubbing of the arms and elbows and another purpose built washer allows for the washing and rubbing of the feet. All these ablution processes can be performed in the AWW© reverently and comfortably without any spillage or undue wastage of water as the water flow is controlled and dispensed electronically by infrared sensors.

Microban® technology is built-in through the surface development process of the AWW©, which protects the AWW© from bacterial activity, mold and fungi and makes the AWW© resistant to microbes that can cause product degradation, odor and stains.

The public version of the AWW© 06-01 is currently available for public and private organisations and Islamic institutions and the domestic version of the AWW© 06-2 will be released shortly. Due to patent restrictions, images of the current versions of the AWW© cannot be released for public view until further notice.
